Harry Styles makes stunning case for all men to rock handbags
Harry Styles has made quite the case for men to rock handbags and we have to say, we’re more than on board his latest style statement.
After causing quite the stir after absolutely owning the heck out of a Gucci ballgown on the cover of Vogue last year, Harry has moved onto Gucci bags in its latest campaign.
Appearing alongside his pal James Corden in a mock talk show – The Beloved Show – Harry was one of the stars which also included a roll call of Awkwafina, Serena Williams and Dakota Johnson to show off the fashion house’s latest wares.
Harry posed for Harmony Korine while holding one of Gucci’s most-beloved handbags, the Jackie 1961, in the campaign.
And if that’s not the best ad to show handbags aren’t only for some and that all genders and non-binary people can rock one with aplomb then we don’t know what is.
Dressed in one of the 100-year-old Italian brand’s fur coats, flared jeans and a funky little patterned shirt, Harry was a treat alongside James in the fake show not all that distant from the latter’s own programme, The Late Late Show.
While they may be chums IRL, the pair had quite the awkward exchange in the cheeky clip, sharing a faux glimpse of what happens behind-the-scenes on James’ show.
As the host teases he’ll tell the audience a tale about the time he discovered Harry ‘outside the back of that diner’, the One Directioner laughs, ‘Don’t you dare.’
The pair collapse into giggles, as Harry muses James is ‘the greatest friend you could ever wish to have’.
However, the short clip then cuts to both stars sitting backstage in the green room, watching a tape of the show in awkward silence, with sandwich triangles sitting on the table.
Both bored and wildly uncomfortable, James says in a monotone voice: ‘That was fun’ as Harry replies, ‘Yeah, thanks, it was good.’
After another bout of silence Harry asks James what he usually does after the show.
‘I’ll just head home,’ James responds, before asking his guest: ‘What about you? Any plans?’
Harry says: ‘No, no. I’ve got an early start’ before they both appear relieved when the singer’s car finally arrives and they share a stilted handshake before parting ways.
Previously speaking about his love of gender-fluid dressing, he told Vogue’s December issue: ‘Clothes are there to have fun with and experiment with and play with
‘What’s really exciting is that all of these lines are just kind of crumbling away. When you take away “There’s clothes for men and there’s clothes for women,” once you remove any barriers, obviously you open up the arena in which you can play.
‘I’ll go in shops sometimes, and I just find myself looking at the women’s clothes thinking they’re amazing. It’s like anything—anytime you’re putting barriers up in your own life, you’re just limiting yourself. There’s so much joy to be had in playing with clothes. I’ve never really thought too much about what it means—it just becomes this extended part of creating something.’
