Dovetail Games is bringing the Christmas festivities to Train Sim World 3 with new challenges and a themed DLC pack.

As we approach the big day itself, you can expect to see a number of games introduce Christmas themed content to celebrate the occasion.

Overwatch 2, for example, has already kicked off its Winter Wonderland event that adds themed cosmetics and covers the maps with snow, while Sonic Frontiers is getting a free Santa costume for its speedy blue star.

Now we can add Train Sim World 3 to the list of titles with ongoing Christmas events, though the star of its offerings is a new DLC set that’s launched today.

Instead of driving a real-life train, Train Sim World 3: The Holiday Express – Runaway Elf sees you controlling a miniature toy replica as it goes around a living room floor.

The 1980s themed design of the room itself is bound to elicit some nostalgia as you’re tasked with retrieving presents that have been scattered by a mischievous elf.

Although it’s not highlighted in the trailer, you’ll also be able to unlock a toy jeep that you can use to freely explore the area, which is a first for the Train World Sim series.

Upon completing the DLC, you’ll be able to use any of the other trains you own in the living room. Although there’s no mention of whether you can take the toy train and use it in the more realistic routes.

Developer Dovetail Games also confirms that it’s hosting community events in-game and on social media. There are new challenges to complete and competitions to take part in that can net you in-game rewards, DLC keys, and a mystery grand prize.

If you’re interested, the Christmas DLC is available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It normally costs £7.99 but, for a week, it’s reduced to £6.39.

This doesn’t apply to the Xbox version for some reason, but there will be a Game Pass exclusive discount in the near future. The PlayStation is only for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Train Sim World 3 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
