Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah has revealed that she ‘attempted suicide’, resulting in her spending a few days in hospital.

In a new episode of the reality series, Shah opened up about her ordeal while on a road trip in San Diego, while speaking to Lisa Barlow and Heather Gay.

The 49-year-old, who’s been on the programme since 2020, states: ‘I almost committed suicide. I tried to, okay?’

Shah emphasised the negative impact an Instagram account called ‘@shahxposed’ had on her, which Chris Harrington, the husband of her co-star Angie Harrington, confessed he was behind.

‘Because your friend is heartless and decided to drag me and my entire family,’ Shah said, according to DailyMail.com.

Speaking about her children and her husband, football coach Sharrieff Shah, she added: ‘Because Omar and Sharrieff weren’t gonna have a mom. Sharrieff wasn’t going to have a wife.’

While speaking on her own to the camera, Shah shed further light on the state of her mental health, saying: ‘I have always felt like I’m a pretty strong person. But when I found out about @shahxposed, it came on a day when there was just a lot of negativity dealing with the trial, and I got to the point that day where I was done.’

In March 2021, the TV personality was criminally charged with conspiracy to commit money laundering and wire fraud, to which she pleaded not guilty.

However, in July this year, she pleaded guilty to fraud and money laundering charges, being charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing, facing up to 30 years in prison

It was reported at the time that she agreed to forfeit $6.5million (£5.4m) and to pay restitution up to $9.5m (£7.8m).

Speaking further on RHOSLC about her suicide attempt, Shah said that she ‘locked herself in the bathroom’, and her husband, who she referred to as Coach, was ‘so scared’ and ‘had to kick the door down because he didn’t know what I was gonna do’.

‘Coach had to take me to the hospital. I was there for two and a half days,’ she stated.

While speaking with Barlow and Gay, Shah said: ‘The bullying is not ok,’ before opening up further with more of her castmates during a Marilyn Monroe-themed dinner.

‘Okay, you want me to break it down for you? ‘Cause you wanna know? You’re digging? You wanna know? I told them I committed, I tried to commit suicide, and then Sharrieff had to take me to the hospital,’ Shah said, when questioned on how her lunch was with Barlow and Gay.

‘So that’s why the Angie, Chris Harrington thing hit my husband so hard, because I did try to take my life. So are we good? Is that what you wanted to know? ‘Cause you wanna dig and dig and dig.’
