His Dark Materials star Dafne Keen admits she’s ‘over playing the feral tween’ and is keen for adult roles-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

His Dark Materials actress Dafne Keen is ready to move on from her role as Lyra, and step into the world of playing adults.

Dafne is set to return to our screens as Lyra in the final season of the BBC’s adaptation of Philip Pullman’s book from The Golden Compass franchise.

Having auditioned for the role aged 11, now 17, Dafne is ready to move on.

She told This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: ‘I’m excited to start playing adults, I’ve been playing kids, I’m over it honestly.’

Dafne continued: ‘I’ve played to many goodies, I’m ready to be a villain.’

‘I’ve been playing the feral tween since I was like nine and I’m just like done,’ the Logan star added.

‘Can we do something new?’

Dafne also revealed she’d be keen to step into theatre, saying: ‘I would love to do theatre, my parents are both theatre actors so I have a very fond place for theatre in my heart.

‘I’ve always found it really annoying that I’ve never gotten the chance, so I do hope that someday I get to do it.’

Series three of His Dark Materials arrives after a long wait due to the pandemic.

In the season two finale, fans were left sobbing aeronaut Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and John Parry (Andrew Scott) face an attack from Magisterium troops, with Lee being hit in the foot as they try to get away.

Meanwhile, the terrifying Mrs Coulter (Ruth Wilson) kidnaps Lyra, who, while asleep, sees her old friend Rodger (Lewin Lloyd) trapped in dreams.

Separated from Lyra, Will meets his father who confirms his destiny to him, while Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) is about to battle the Magisterium with the help of the fairies.
