Maddy Smedley has become one of the breakout stars of BBC One’s gripping new show, The Traitors.

Maddy has cracked up many viewers, dubbing herself Maddy Marple, as she gets quite, shall we say, passionate about her suspicions.

The show, which has developed a quick fanbase, requires a group of strangers to work out who amongst them are the ‘Murderers’ and who are the ‘Faithfuls’ – murderers will kill off one contestant per week with the aim of scooping the huge prize money.

Faithfuls must guess who the murderers are for their chance to split the winnings. Maddy, a Faithful, has correctly guessed one of the murderers, Wilf… but for all the wrong reasons. And she won’t stop accusing him. Week after week. Will she keep doing it in the next episode, airing tonight at 9pm? Very probably.

While her (accidental) detective work has impressed many, a new revelation has really wowed fans. Maddy has appeared on soaps including EastEnders and Casualty before!

Who did Maddy play in EastEnders?

Maddy appeared in one episode of EastEnders, where she played a homeless woman named Rita.

Rita appeared in a standalone episode, where Maddy’s character met Bailey Baker whilst out on the streets.

Maddy’s episode aired back in May 2021.

Adorably, Maddy shared a video on her TikTok of her surprising her mum with her appearance on the BBC soap, having kept her small part quiet.

Speaking of how her acting can help her in The Traitors, Maddy said on the show: ‘My main passion is acting. I played Rita in EastEnders, a homeless woman, and also I played someone without a womb in Casualty. And I feel like it means I can spot when someone is putting on a performance.’

Fans were loving the revelation about Maddy’s past with EastEnders, begging for the show to bring her back and calling her ‘iconic.’

When is The Traitors final?

The show has quickly swept the nation, but alas, the final beckons already.

The BBC have confirmed the show will wrap up on Thursday, December 22 at 9pm.

The following episodes left to air are:

Episode 8 – tonight (December 15)

Episode 9 – Friday, December 16

Episode 10 – Tuesday, December 20

Episode 11 – Wednesday, December 21

Episode 12 – the final – December 22

The remaining 5 episodes all air at 9pm on BBC One.
