Richard Osman has opened up on how ‘terrified’ he was to get married before the big day.

The author and former Pointless host, 52, tied the knot with Doctor Who star Ingrid Oliver, 45, earlier this month  in a ‘magical’ ceremony with family and friends.

Having first met on Richard’s TV show House of Games, the newly-married couple first enjoyed a firm friendship before romance reportedly blossomed in lockdown.

Richard had confirmed their engagement in May of this year, telling Marian Keyes in an interview for The Observer the rumours were true.

He teased: ‘Exciting, isn’t it?’

However, it turns out he was pretty nervous ahead of the big day.

Appearing on Loose Women on Friday, he revealed, in response to Judi Love asking ‘I heard you were terrified to get married’: ‘Yeah, it’s terrifying to get married.

‘All of our friend were there, there’s so much you have to organise, you’ve got the band, the booze, the ceremony, all that stuff.

‘And also, it was so filled with love that day, everyone we knew, everyone we loved, people from school, from my whole life, were there, and you just think, “Just don’t get it wrong.”

‘Of course, the second you’re there and standing opposite each other, doing the vows, you know it can’t go wrong.

‘But beforehand it was absolutely terrifying.’

After their ceremony, Richard announced on social media: ‘The most magical, joyful day on Saturday with my beautiful wife @ingridoliver100.

‘Surrounded by wonderful friends and family, a day full of love and laughter. We’re so, so happy.’

Ingrid also shared the photo to her Instagram, captioning it simply with two heart emojis.
