Strictly Come Dancing co-stars Hamza Yassin and Helen Skelton are reportedly set to team up to host Countryfile together in the near future.

Hamza, 32, was crowned as the 20th Strictly champion on Saturday, while Helen, 39, became a hit with the viewing public and reached the final four.

The BBC talent competition saw a ratings drop for the final, which had an average of 9.2m people tuning in to watch Hamza be named winner.

Over 11 million people tuned in last year to see Rose Ayling-Ellis take home the glitterball and become the contest’s first deaf winner.

However, a slight dip in ratings hasn’t prevented the BBC from planning what to do next with two of its breakout stars.

And now The Sun is reporting that Hamza and Helen will be teaming up to present episodes of Countryfile side-by-side in the near future.

A source told the publication: ‘It’s a huge opportunity for Hamza and Helen as Countryfile’s ratings eclipse most soap operas.’

Helen has hosted episodes of Countryfile ever since her first appearance in 2008, while Hamza has worked in the background as part of the camera crew.

And it appears the good news for the pair doesn’t end there – Hamza and Helen are reportedly in talks to host their own shows for the BBC.

Hamza is apparently in talks to front his own nature show, while Helen is also being eyed up to produce shows of her own after the public were shown her true personality on Strictly.

‘Hamza is set to front his own nature show, while Helen is expected to get her own vehicle based around her adventurous and bubbly personality.’

A camera operator for Countryfile, Hamza also presented a group of documentaries for Channel 4, detailing his life in Scotland.

In 2020, a one-hour special entitled Scotland: My Life in the Wild saw Hamza observe the wildlife of the Scottish Highlands, where he has lived since 2011.

Helen has a long history of work with the BBC, having hosted Newsround and Blue Peter between 2007 and 2013, as well as their 2016 Olympics coverage.

After winning the title, Hamza praised his dance partner Jowita: ‘Words can’t describe how I feel. Jowita, you are an angel disguised as a human being.’

Countryfile airs Sundays on BBC One.
