I tried the Kim Kardashian Skims dress and it was a major fail – at least my shopping method saved me aggravation
BUYER, beware: if you’re planning to buy the viral lounge dresses from Kim Kardashian’s brand, consider skipping the online shop.
One Skims customer said she’s grateful for the alternative method that saved her money and trouble, and she’s warning other shoppers.

Before fashion influencer Petra Macias Medrano tried the viral slip dress from Skims, she had high expectations.
She wanted to try on the Soft Lounge Slip Dress, $78, before she made an investment in the piece.
In a video review, Medrano said she was glad she followed her “try before you buy” instinct.
“For $80, I was not expecting it to be so see-through,” the shocked shopper said, filming herself in a mirror.
The savvy customer was standing in a dressing room. In the video’s description, she explained where she was.
“They have Skims at Nordstorm so you can try it in person before buying,” the influencer wrote.
According to their website, the department store carries over 200 Skims items, with availability dependent on location.
Medrano turned to show more of the beige dress, one of two Skims outfits she modeled for her followers in the Nordstrom dressing room.
“You can see my bra color,” Medrano pointed out.
Turning to the side, she gestured at her lower stomach, upper thigh, and glutes.

She didn’t like how much of her body and skin texture showed through the clingy fabric.
“I don’t know how this is flattering on anyone,” Medrano confessed. “I feel exposed. This is not it.”
Determined to keep trying, Medrano pulled on the long-sleeve version of the dress, $88, in a deeper brown.
“I like this dark color a lot more,” Medrano said, clearly relieved.
After trying on both dresses, she realized they were indicative of a pattern she’d seen in other Skims buyers.
“I think that’s why people are only getting the dark colors,” she explained.
One commenter on the video told Medrano that the lighter-colored dress was fine, if she wore it for its “intended” purpose.
“It’s only supposed to be a lounge dress and not to go out,” they explained. “That’s why it’s so skin-like!”
Despite the title, Medrano said she’d witnessed something different.
“I was seeing girls wear it out,” she wrote back.
