Still no state memorial service scheduled for Olivia Newton-John five months after death-Rachael O'Connor-Entertainment – Metro

There is still no state memorial service scheduled for the late Dame Olivia Newton-John despite an offer made following her death.
The music icon and actress died in August at the age of 73 in her adopted home of California after a long battle with cancer.
There was a massive outpouring of love from across the world as the news broke, particularly from her Grease co-stars and in her native Australia.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews even suggested at the time that there could be a state funeral or memorial for the actor, who died of stage four breast cancer, saying they would ‘speak to the family and be as respectful as we can.’
However, as reported by local outlet The Herald Sun, Dame Olivia’s family accepted the offer but five months later no official plans have been made.
Her niece, Tottie Goldsmith, told the outlet she was hopeful the memorial would take place, saying she ‘really believes it’s going to happen.’

‘We’re just waiting on final family dates to fit in with other things. We’ll get there.’
She added: ‘Hopefully this new year will bring some answers.’
A Victorian government spokesperson also confirmed to the newspaper that the offer was still available for the family to take up should they wish to do so.

Dame Olivia’s family have just faced their first Christmas without their beloved mother, wife, sister and aunt.
Her only daughter Chloe recently vowed to carry on her mother’s work in regards to raising awareness of the devastating disease.
The Summer Nights singer became an advocate for cancer research and funding, and used her platform to raise awareness after she experienced two recurrences of the disease in 2013 and 2017.

Chloe, 36, said in a video to Instagram posted ahead of a charity walk: ‘We really want to raise awareness and get as many of you walking with us, or virtually. It is so important to raise awareness and raise funds.
‘My mum’s dream was for kinder treatments to cancer, an end to cancer really. So, I feel the torch has been passed and this is my mission and my passion.’
