The 93rd annual Academy Awards (Oscars) are scheduled to take place tomorrow night (April 25), celebrating the best films to come out of 2020.

The ceremony has been rescheduled from its previous date of February 28 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Due to this date change, there has been a temporary change to the Oscar’s eligibility criteria, with the December 31 deadline extended to February 28.

In the running for the coveted best picture award includes the likes of The Father, Judas and The Black Messiah, Mank and Minari.

Also receiving nominations for best picture were Nomadland, Promosing Young Woman, Sound Of Metal and The Trial Of The Chicago 7.

The Academy Awards have also made history this year, with two female directors being nominated – Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell for their movies Nomadland and Promising Young Woman.

But which stars have been nominated for this year’s awards, and will they be attending in-person?

And Maria Bakalova, Glenn Close, Olivia Colman, Amanda Seyfried and Young Yuh-jung have been recognised in the supporting actress category.

Will the nominees be attending the Oscars in-person?

This year’s Oscars are expected to be different due to the ongoing pandemic.

The ceremony will be held across two venues: the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and the Union Stadium in Los Angeles.

While awards are set to be given out in person, the show will have a limited audience at just 170 people, who are said to be rotated in and out of the event space throughout the evening.

Attendees are required to take at least three Covid tests ahead of the night and have their temperatures taken before they are admitted to the event.

They will also reportedly not be required to wear face masks while the cameras are rolling during the ceremony.

However, they are being asked to mask up when not on camera, for example during advertising breaks, according to Variety.

Due to the smaller audience, we can expect that only a few of the nominees will be able to attend in person.

Some of the celebs nominated will also appear from international hubs – such as the British Film Institute (BFI) in London – which have been set up to help those unable to travel due to the pandemic.

The Academy previously said it wants the broadcast to feel like a film and producers told nominees appearing via Zoom would be a last resort.

While much about the ceremony will be different, the Academy has enlisted the usual array of star names to add as much glamour to proceedings as possible, with the likes of Brad Pitt, Zendaya, Renee Zellwegger, Reese Witherspoon, Harrison Ford and Halle Berry giving out awards.
