BLACKPINK member Jisoo has revealed her plans to go solo for a debut album in the coming months.

The 28-year-old Korean K-pop star teased the potential for new music at the beginning of last year and has kept fans guessing ever since.

She will be the last of the girl group – whose other members include Lisa, Jennie and Rosé – to go it alone and branch out into the world of solo performing.

News of a Jisoo album came in January 2022 when the much-loved singer revealed to fans she was due to record solo material later that year.

Despite suggestions a new venture was on the horizon, the pop princess supposedly got cold feet halfway through the process and said she wasn’t sure if an individual body of work was meant for her.

Speaking with Rolling Stone during a cover shoot for the band in May last year, Jisoo shared: ‘I’m not sure how much I want to go solo yet.

‘The music I listen to, the music I can do, and the music I want to do – what should I choose?

‘I love songs with lots of instruments. I love different bands and rock music. What do people want from me?

‘There’s a chaos of conflicting questions. So I’m still tilting my head in confusion. I’m not sure what will happen with my solo plans this year.’

However, it seems her initial hesitations were put to bed and a Jisoo headliner is on the cards for 2023.

Ending the year by offering fans the chance to chat with her on Weverse – a Korean mobile app – the star appeared to confirm that her album was on the way.

She penned: ‘Please wait for Jisoo’s solo album in 2023.’

The group’s management YG Entertainment followed the interaction with a statement confirming the news.

It read: ‘BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is currently working hard on recording her solo album.

‘While carrying out a busy world tour schedule since last year, she finished the album jacket photo shoot and worked on music production whenever she got the time in order to keep the promise with fans.

‘She will greet [fans] soon with good news.’

Leading the solo missions for the band, Jennie was the first to step out as an individual artist with her single Solo in 2018.

Her efforts were followed by Rosé with her song R in 2021 and later in that same year by Lisa with Lalisa.
