Marks & Spencer is selling a £55 dupe of Kate Middleton’s denim dress

MARKS & SPENCER has made our childhood dream of being able to dress like a Princess come true with its new denim dress.

A dead ringer for the Gabriela Hearst piece worn by Kate Middleton in 2020 when she met Sir David Attenborough, the Denim V-Neck Midaxi Tiered Shirt Dress is not only super stylish but also really affordable.

Part of the Per Una collection, the Denim V-Neck Midaxi Tiered Shirt Dress is actually made from cotton which is far more flexible and comfortable than the thicker material and this is what gives the dress its cascading, relaxed fit.

The hemline comes down to the ankle and there’s a matching belt attached which creates shape around the waist.

A v neckline gives a laid-back feel and there’s some subtle detailing around the collar and cuffs for extra interest.

The original ‘Marley’ version worn by the Princess of Wales is no longer in stock but would have originally set you back over £1000, whereas Per Una’s new offering for 2023 looks just as chic and costs a little over £50.

And just like the original, the Denim V-Neck Midaxi Tiered Shirt Dress is sustainably made.

Using the Better Cotton Initiative, farmers are trained to use water more efficiently, reduce the use of the most harmful chemicals and creates more opportunities for fairness and equity.

We love how Kate puts sustainability at the top of her agenda, as she is often seen rewearing outfits rather than donning new dresses at each event.

But, just because the pieces are sustainable, doesn’t mean they are always affordable, so when a top tier dupe comes to the market, we’d recommend snapping it up asap.

As this Marks & Spencer number is already selling fast, despite lots of regular and petite sizes being available, some are, unsurprisingly, already sold out.

As well as being roomie and comfortable, the Denim V-Neck Midaxi Tiered Shirt Dress has the holy grail of features: pockets. And very useable pockets too, because with such a loose fit, housing a phone or some change won’t drastically change the silhouette.

Kate styled her dress with heeled pumps but for colder weather we think this would look great with ankle boots and delicate jewellery.

And as the cherry on top of the cake, this can be machine washed and put in the dryer afterwards.
