Khloe Kardashian supports Kanye West as he produces ‘beautiful’ DMX memorial after iconic rapper’s death
Khloe Kardashian showed public support for her estranged brother-in-law Kanye West as he produced DMX’s memorial service this weekend.
Kanye, who is divorcing Khloe’s sister Kim Kardashian, was asked by Ruff Ryders star Swizz Beatz to produce the service following DMX’s death on April 9 aged 50.
The Gold Digger rapper did not make a high profile appearance at the emotional memorial for the legendary rapper on Saturday and remained unseen. His Sunday Service choir took charge of leading the gospel music at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Reacting to their stirring performances, Khloe tweeted: ‘Rest in paradise DMX. Beautiful moving performance from Ye and his Sunday service choir.’
It’s the first time Khloe has acknowledged Kanye publicly since news broke in February that he and Kim were divorcing after six years of marriage. Kanye has kept a low profile since then and did not reply to Khloe’s tweet.
In his speech at the end, Swizz Beatz thanked Kanye for putting the event together after putting in a personal request for the rapper. DMX was close friends with Kanye and attended one of the rapper’s Sunday Services in California, with footage of him holding a prayer circle shown during the memorial.
Kanye has been mostly out of the spotlight since Kim filed for divorce to end their marriage earlier this year, citing irreconcilable differences.
They have made sure to put their children; North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, one, first, with the former couple reportedly agreeing to joint custody.
An insider has now revealed the mum-of-four is coping well after the split, and is happy that they have managed to keep things calm.
‘Kim and Kanye are getting along,’ a source told People.
‘They have both stayed true to their commitment to make the best situation for the kids. ‘Kim is very happy that they have managed to keep things calm. She thinks Kanye is a good dad.
‘She wants him to be able to spend as much time with the kids as he wants.’
They added: ‘For every week that goes by since she filed for divorce, Kim seems happier. She knows that filing for divorce was the right decision. The kids are doing as good as she could hope.’
Hints of trouble in their marriage has been shown in recent episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, filmed last year, but Kim said she didn’t want to go into detail on camera.
