Dancing On Ice’s Christopher Dean suffered a nasty accident while attempting a complicated skating routine.
The judge will be returning to the ITV juggernaut series alongside a panel comprising Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Oti Mabuse when it launches in a few days time.
Among the 11 celebrities taking to the rink are Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, TOWIE star Joey Essex and The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran, as they show off their skills in a bid to become this year’s champion
But ahead of the competition series’ return, the Olympic media winner, 64, sustained a bad injury, sharing a picture of his little finger, which was bandaged, on Twitter.
Christopher captioned the post: ‘Yes broken’, before sharing a follow-up of how the incident happened.
He explained: ‘We were trying the Iron Lotus, but ended up doing a Half Nelson. Or did I just fall over a suitcase in the middle of the night.’

Let’s hope Christopher, who has been in a relationship with fellow ice skater Karen Barber, 61, since 2011, makes a swift recovery.
Unfortunately, the TV personality isn’t the only star to have been injured in the lead-up to 2023’s edition of Dancing On Ice, with Ekin-Su previously opening up about a grim wound.
In a November episode of Good Morning Britain, she explained: ‘It’s gone now but there was a bruise. I’ve lost a toe [nail], but anyway! It’s fine. It went backwards, but it’s great. That is gonna explain how my training is going.’

Last year, Connor Ball was left bleeding during his skate after suffering an injury moments before broadcast.
Presenter Stephen Mulhern, who filled in for Phillip Schofield, addressed the injury and explained that Connor was meant to open Sunday’s show but had an accident right before where he cut his chin open.
Stephen said: ‘I don’t know if you can see this but Dancing On Ice is completely live and Connor was meant to open the entire show, but had an accident before the show.

‘He had stitches before the show so he couldn’t go on first and they have now opened up.’
Dancing On Ice begins on ITV1 on Sunday January 15 at 6.30pm.
