Call of Duty Warzone: Five Major Changes in the map

Call of Duty Warzone has been one of the most successful additions to the roster of Battle Royale titles out there. It was impressive how the title managed to build a fan base for itself so quickly. Especially at a time when the community was reaching saturation with BR titles. Warzone incorporated a lot of new gameplay elements into the genre, something a lot of other titles have tried to draw inspiration from. But the competitive aspect of the title has been in complete shambles due to the occasional imbalance in the weapon rotation and the persistent hacker issue.

However, in terms of content, this title has been quite rewarding to its players. The latest season of the title brought about major changes in the map. In a way, it introduced a whole new map into the game, the Verdansk 84. This one is a different version of the good old Verdansk from the ’80s.

The new map of Verdansk takes players to the same timeline as Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. The official description says:

“Season Three is the beginning of a new era for Warzone, one that brings Verdansk back to 1984 with massive changes to the map. As a map that defined Warzone for its first year and a month, Verdansk has now been refreshed to optimize gameplay and offer a wider variety of new combat experiences, all while setting it back in time to fully tie it into the rich story of Black Ops Cold War.”

Five major changes in the Verdansk map in Call of Duty Warzone Season 3

First on the list is the Gora Summit. The official description says that veteran players of the original Black Ops titles should find this one familiar. It is a huge complex with a central island base, and three gondola stations. In addition to this, it also features a lower river valley that players can ascend on foot, vehicle, or an ascender.

Up next is the Gora Viaduct. The official description calls it a feat of 19th-century engineering. The bridge spans the entire Gora River Valley. Moving further upstream, players can find dams that cause the valley to be a lush grassland.

Moving on, we have the Verdansk Regional Airport. An older variation of the current Airport in the game, this one still has an intact roof. Moreover, it has an extra exit to the Runway Underpass, along with two planes to use as cover options.

The Verdansk 84 version of the Stadium is quite an interesting addition. Players can see that the old Arena is being dismantled to make way for the new regional Stadium. Players can find similar references at the Salt Mines as well. This is basically the Verdansk 84 version of the Quarry. The Salt Mine features two large (and currently sealed) entrances, numerous old mine conduits, and “a large, craggy hillside to explore about the containment ponds and factories.”

With all these additions, Warzone is embedding itself more and more with the Black Ops Cold War storyline. Looks like the coming days are going to be really fun.
