Lisa Marie Presley was at the Golden Globes just two days before her death, where Austin Butler paid homage to her while on stage accepting an award for playing her father, Elvis Presley.
On Thursday, Lisa Marie had been rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.
In a statement confirming the update, her mother, Priscilla Presley, said: ‘My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers.’
However, it was later announced that Lisa Marie, the only child of Priscilla and Elvis, had died at the age of 54.
‘It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,’ Priscilla Presley said in a statement. ‘She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.’
Earlier this week, the mother and daughter attended the Golden Globes in Los Angeles, where Baz Luhrmann’s biopic Elvis was nominated for three accolades.
The lead actor, Austin, received the recognition for best actor in a motion picture, with the 31-year-old subsequently gracing the stage to express his gratitude in an emotional speech.
‘Oh boy my boy. Woo! God, oh man. All my words are leaving me. I just am so grateful right now. I’m in this room full of my heroes,’ he said at first, before thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and paying tribute to his fellow nominees.
Austin celebrated Baz as a ‘bold visionary filmmaker who allowed me the experience to take risks’, while also honouring his ‘dance partner’ Tom Hanks, who played the role of Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker in the movie.
After the actor thanked Denzel Washington for ‘championing’ him in his career, the outro music began to play as he turned to the Presley family.

‘I also want to thank our incredible producers, and Warner Brothers, and the Presley family, thank you guys. Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever,’ he said.
Lisa Marie placed a hand over her heart in response to Austin’s words, as the audience clapped.
On the red carpet, Lisa Marie stood next to Austin as she expressed how ‘blown away’ she felt watching his portrayal of her father on screen.
‘It was mind-blowing. Truly mind-blowing. I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it. I had to take like five days to process it, because it was so incredible and so spot on and so authentic,’ she told Entertainment Tonight.
‘I can’t even describe what it meant.’
Singer-songwriter Lisa Marie owned and ran Elvis Presley Enterprises until 2005 when she sold the business, but owned Elvis’ Memphis estate of Graceland before her death.
She had two children with her ex-husband Danny Keough – Riley Keough, 33, and Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in July 2020, aged 27.
The couple were married from 1988 until 1994.
After her divorce from Danny, Presley went on to marry Michael Jackson in 1994 for two years, and then married Nicolas Cage in 2002 until they divorced in 2004.
Presley shared her younger two children, Finley and Harper, with her fourth husband Michael Lockwood, who she married in 2006 before divorcing in 2021.
