Initially taking over on an interim basis, Colin Murray has now been named as the permenant host of Countdown after the departure of Anne Robinson.

Former Weakest Link star Anne, 77, announced she was quitting the Channel 4 show after one year in the hot seat and making history as the first female to take the role.

She took over from The Apprentice’s Nick Hewer on the letters and numbers programme in 2021 after much speculation over who would take his place following 10 years at the helm.

Now, Colin will be permanently fronting the legendary Channel 4 quiz. So, who is Colin Murray?

Who is Colin Murray?

Colin Murray is a radio and TV presenter best known for fronting Match Of The Day 2 on BBC Two.

He initially addressed his exciting new Countdown gig on Twitter in May, writing: ‘I’m like the assistant manager, given the job until end of season.

‘Earn respect of dressing room (@susie_dent @RachelRileyRR), get some points on the board, try to win a trophy! 75 games to get it right!

‘Absolute honour. Fav show ever. July 14 to start of Nov.’

However, he has now tweeted thanking the team and audience after his full-time appointment.

Prior to Match Of The Day 2 and Countdown, Colin, 45, has enjoyed presenting radio shows on the likes of BBC Radio 5 Live and Talksport.

He hosted the 10am to 1pm slot on Talksport for three years from 2013. However, he quit the station in 2016 following the takeover of the station by News Corp.

Is Colin Murray married?

Colin Murray is married to Canadian-born composer Carly Paradis. The couple have been married since 2012.

Carly composes soundtracks for movies, TV series and her own albums, with her most notable works including The Line Of Duty theme and the Innocents on Netflix.
