Winter Love Island 2023 got off to a very exciting start – but not all viewers were able to enjoy the first episode like they had planned to.

With Maya Jama taking over from Laura Whitmore as host this year, it was all change as a fresh batch of singletons entered a brand new South African villa in the hopes of finding romance.

The first episode saw 10 Islanders enter into couples, with a few steals along the way before the contestants all admitted to wanting to ‘keep their options open’ and get to know each other.

Annoyingly, though, the series premiere was disrupted for many with regular glitches on both their TVs and the ITVX app.

As a result, fans missed out on golden moments and were left raging, also questioning why they pay their TV license.

Others noted that the glitching only seemed to occur mid-episode, and not during the ad breaks, which fans surely wouldn’t have minded missing.

Expressing their anger on Twitter, one wrote: ‘ITV, you had one job, what’s with the glitching?’

‘This glitching needs to stop ASAP’, one tweeted.

‘ITV don’t know how to handle Mayas presence on telly that’s why it’s glitching’, joked another.

One frustrate individual tweeted the network with a suggestion on what the winners’ prize pot can go towards: ‘@itv use that £50k prize money to stop all this glitching because I can’t take anymore of this.’

Some even threatened to turn off their TVs completely, having had enough of the tech issues.

‘I’m about to turn off, my video keeps on glitching left right centre,’ one raged.

The cause of the glitching isn’t known, but since it wasn’t just one person whose TV lost signal and became pixelated, there definitely must be an underlying issue.

Love Island airs each night at 9pm on ITV.

ITV has been contacted for comment.
