Laura Whitmore has been enjoying a trip to Morocco as Love Island launched its first series since she stepped down as host.

The 37-year-old announced last year that she would not be returning to the hit ITV2 show, with Maya Jama replacing her as Laura’s husband Iain Stirling remains as voiceover.

Although the mum-of-one publicly supported Maya, 28, when it was announced she had landed the gig, Laura has not posted about the show’s return online as it hit screens.

However, Laura is currently in Marrakech which is an hour ahead of London time so may not have had a chance to watch the show yet.

Laura, who has recently finished her West End debut in 2:22 – A Ghost Story, shared footage of herself driving past camels to her Instagram story ahead of Love Island’s return.

She later shared an image of herself in a very large straw hat and a colourful outfit as she tagged the Moroccan city as her location.

Laura was then seen pouring a hot drink into a glass, writing: ‘Learning all the tricks! Thank you @saad_films for a great start to the week!’

It is unclear why Laura is currently in Morocco, but Saad Films, who she appears to be with says in their Instagram bio they ‘provide luxury services for foreign productions to facilitate their shooting.’

Laura has not posted on Twitter since January 12, when she shared a trailer for her and husband Iain’s podcast Partners In Crime.

Metro.co.uk has contacted a representative for Laura for comment on this story.

Announcing she had departed the role as host in August, Laura took to Instagram to write: ‘Some news! I won’t be hosting the next series of Love island.

‘There are certain elements of the show I’ve found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects.

‘I wish it was still possible but know you’ll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline ❤️.’

Upon the announcement of Maya being her replacement in October, Laura wrote: ‘Yes girl!! So delighted for you! You’re gonna be fab❤️x.’

Speaking to Psychologies magazine about her decision to quit last month, Laura said: ‘It’s a show I love watching, but I guess when you work on it, you can’t speak about it.

‘There was only so much I can do as a host – I couldn’t support them or not support them. I couldn’t say anything.’

‘So you kind of have to go quiet, and that was hard for me because I like to be able to have those conversations.

‘If I could [have done] things the way I wanted to, I’d probably still be doing it.’
