Dr Hilary is loving the Gogglebox reaction to his on-air clash with anti-lockdown pub landlord
Dr Hilary looked pretty chuffed with the reaction on Gogglebox to his tense exchange with a pub landlord on Good Morning Britain over lockdowns.
The clash between Dr Hilary and Rod Humphris, owner of The Raven Bath, came on April 20 when Humphris criticised the effectiveness of lockdown in the fight against coronavirus.
The landlord claimed that other countries had got a handle on the pandemic without going into lockdown. Dr Hilary fired back explaining that areas who locked down earlier for longer are in a better position.
He told Humphris: ‘I think you should stick to pulling pints rather than advising the government about policy on the biggest pandemic public health issue for the last 100 years.’
The moment was aired on Friday night’s Gogglebox with the families watching on firmly in Dr Hilary’s corner.
He reacted to the scenes as they were aired on Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, and looked pretty pleased with himself.

Talking to hosts Susanna Reid and Adil Ray, Hilary said: ‘When you texted me I did have a cheeky look and I thought “Yes”.’
‘Good on the Gogglebox guys they’re very well informed,’ Adil replied.
Dr Hilary also pointed out that with every peak we’ve had during the pandemic, a lockdown has been ordered which has resulted in falling numbers.
The landlord then claimed that when lockdowns have occurred, the ‘infections have already been falling’, insisting there is no ‘causal link’ between lockdown measures and lack of deaths.
The health expert questioned how he thought case numbers came down without lockdown and how the UK came through the first two peaks.
When Rob referred to coronavirus as a ‘seasonal virus’, he added: ‘A seasonal virus? That’s been going on all year?’
The terse interview came after Humphris went viral after kicking Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer out of his establishment after he fumed about the politician’s response to the pandemic.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
