Tom Grennan has revealed he is ‘crushed’ following the death of one of his fans.

The hitmaker confirmed on Wednesday that a fan named Amber had died the night before her ninth birthday.

Tom, 27, explained that Amber had been battling cancer and promised to ‘carry her spirit’ with him ‘forever’.

The Run in the Rain singer wrote on Twitter this week: ‘My little superstar Amber I wish I wasn’t writing this, your passing the night before your 9th birthday has crushed me.

‘I know you will be watching and singing at every gig I do and I’ll carry your spirit and smile with me forever. Love to the family x F*** you cancer! RIP Amber.’

Tom also shared a photo of himself cuddling Amber, who beamed from ear to ear in the sweet snap.

Beneath his post, Make-A-Wish UK confirmed that the musician had helped make Amber’s dream of having her own festival come true.

Replying to Tom’s tweet, the organisation wrote: ‘The lovely Amber. Granting her wish “to have a festival” is something we’ll never forget and her bright smile will always be remembered by all of us at Make-A-Wish UK.

The tragedy comes after the singer announced the launch of his new podcast, The Tom Grennan Phone In.

He’ll be joined by a new special guest for every episode, and the podcast’s lineup is looking stellar, with the likes of Vicky McClure, Roman Kemp, Jaackmaate, Mimi Webb and Zara McDermott all swinging by for a chat.

Announcing the podcast’s launch, Tom excitedly tweeted: ‘Ring riiiiinnnnggggg! I’m so excited to be launching my first podcast with a dream lineup of guests.

Tom was referring to the fact that the Brits announced earlier this month he’s up for the best rock/alternative act gong at this year’s ceremony.

He’ll face off against The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Nova Twins and Wet Leg for the award.
