The daughters of Jay Briscoe are facing a ‘very long road’ to recovery after the devastating car crash earlier this week.

The Ring of Honor legend, whose real name was Jamin Pugh, died aged 38 in the accident on Tuesday and his girls Gracie and Jayleigh were in the car at the time.

The wrestler’s widow Ashley gave an update on their daughters the following day, revealing that Gracie, 12, would need back surgery.

Now, friends of the family, who organised a fundraiser via GiveSendGo, have gone into more detail with Ashley’s blessing.

The fundraiser was set up to help ease ‘ease any burden’ the family may feel from the tragedy, and over $185,000 has been raised thus far with big names like Kevin Owens, The Young Bucks and Chris Jericho making big donations.

In a Facebook live stream updating everyone, they said: ‘Currently the girls are stable, but they both have a very long road of recovery ahead of them. Gracie, 12, when she originally got to Nanticoke [hospital], she couldn’t feel anything from the waist down.

‘She was diagnosed with an L2 dislocation and an L3 and L4 fracture in her back with compression on her spinal cord.’

Once she was stabilised, she was transferred to another hospital and had regained feeling in her thighs, ‘but nothing lower than her knee’.

She underwent successful surgery on Wednesday morning and ‘the doctor was able to relieve the compression on the spinal cord’, but now ‘it’s a waiting game’.

They added: ‘Gracie had tingling in her feet on and off today. Her progress will be a day-to-day basis for months to come. She is bruised up pretty badly, but at this time, no other injuries have been diagnosed.’

Meanwhile, her sister Jayleigh suffered an open tibia and fibula fracture and underwent surgery, and she has since been ‘diagnosed with a C7 fracture in her neck and has been placed in a neck brace, which she will be in for six weeks’, as well as ‘an L3 and L4 fracture in her back’, which will require a back brace for around three months.

She has also suffered a right clavicle fracture from her seatbelt, a broken rib on her right side, as well as ‘a perforated bowel with free fluid in her abdomen’.

In a police report following the tragic accident, it was revealed Briscoe wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time, when another drive swerved into his lane and hit their vehicle head-on.
