Our Yorkshire Farm star Amanda Owen has revealed her family recently experienced a ‘scary’ medical emergency, when one of her children had to be transported in a helicopter to hospital.

For several years, Amanda and her family have been in the spotlight after opening up about their lives on TV, first in ITV documentary The Dales, before appearing in Channel 5’s New Lives In The Wild UK and then subsequently launching their own programme.

Amanda, who’s known as ‘The Yorkshire Shepherdess’, has nine children with Clive Owen, who she separated from in 2022.

During a recent interview, the 48-year-old opened up about how she and Clive, 68, are co-parenting their brood, with their kids being ‘quite independent’ with their own ‘tasks and jobs’ to do at Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales.

However, just before the festive period, they faced an alarming situation when one of the children required urgent medical attention.

‘Just literally three weeks before Christmas we had another medical emergency on the farm,’ she told Times Radio.

‘That was a scary one, whereby one of the children was taken ill, and that involved a helicopter coming, an air ambulance coming to pick us up.’

Amanda admitted that some people often say that it must be ‘amazing’ that they live such a rural life at their farm.

However, being so remote, and therefore needing a helicopter to fly in for an air ambulance, is ‘one of the drawbacks’, she said.

When asked if the child in question is doing ok since the incident, she added: ‘Everything absolutely is alright, but it was a scary moment.’

Earlier this year, Amanda addressed what it’s been like to co-parent her children with Clive, saying that it’s been ‘tough’ but they ‘just have to get on with it’.

‘Look, there are two simple facts: if he thought I was brilliant, and I thought he was brilliant, then we wouldn’t have separated,’ she told Radio Times.

‘It’s a fact, isn’t it? But, you know what, that’s not unique, it’s just how things are, pressures, all the rest of it.

‘But we have nine kids, with associated friends, girlfriends, and we just have to get on with it.’

The couple confirmed their split in June 2022, saying in a statement shared on social media: ‘This hasn’t been easy, but we both believe it’s the right choice for the future of our family.’

Our Yorkshire Farm is available to watch on My5.
