Season 6 of The Crown is well-underway, with the likes of Dominic West and a Geri Halliwell lookalike seen shooting scenes at Winchester Cathedral.

The previous instalment of the Netflix blockbuster drama was set in the 1990s, covering the Queen’s ‘annus horribilis’ in 1992 and the fire severely damaging Windsor Castle.

The series also saw Elizabeth Debicki star as Princess Diana at tumultuous periods of her life, including the 1995 interview with Martin Bashir and her divorce from King Charles.

The final outing of Peter Morgan’s show is thought to pick up from the late 1990s until the early 2000s, with the showrunner previously saying it will not ‘bring us any closer to present-day.’

While the plot details are being kept under wraps, it is thought season 6 will cover Princess Diana’s death in 1997, Tony Blair’s years in power, as well as his professional relationship with the Queen.

Several of The Crown’s stars were spotted on set this week at Winchester Cathedral, with one of the scenes being filmed thought to be involving the Spice Girls.

An actor was seen in full Ginger Spice get-up, sporting her iconic red tresses and Union Jack boots and jacket, paired with a sparkly blue dress.

It’s a very similar outfit to the one worn by the pop icon at the charity gala for the Prince’s Trust in 1997.

During the glitzy bash, Geri and Mel B both broke royal protocol by kissing the then Prince on the cheek, with Ginger going one step further, and patting Charles’ bottom.

Geri, 50, later told The Times: ‘I didn’t pinch Prince Charles’s bum, as was reported. I patted it. Patting him on the bottom was against royal protocol but we’re all human.’

‘It was the premiere of our film, Spice World, in the late nineties. There was a lot of nervous energy – young women, happy antics.’

Elsewhere, The Wire actor was seen in character as Prince Charles, believed to be filming Princess Diana’s funeral.

Actors thought to be playing Prince Harry and Prince William were also spied on set, with the two stars wearing dark suits paired with grey ties.

It comes after the Duke of Sussex, 38, confessed to watching The Crown and ‘fact-checking’ the drama.

During a chat with talk show host Stephen Colbert, the Prince was quizzed on whether he has watched the hit show, with the audience bursting into laughter when Harry cheekily gestured putting pen to paper.

Declaring his approval for the show, he said: ‘Yes I do actually, which by the way is another reason why it’s so important that history has it right.
