We’re fashion editors and these are the show stopping items we couldn’t live without

THE Sun’s fashion team are revealing their hero wardrobe items for 2023.

From boiler suits to maxi skirts, at home or in the office, these are the items our fashion team can’t live without.

WIDE TROUSERS

Abby, Senior stylist and fashion writer

Shirt, £42, Next; trousers, £45, River Island; shoes, £38, Schuh; bag, £19.99, New LookDan Williams

I’M all about comfort this year and, to me, wide-leg trousers are just that.

This pair here, from River Island, are soft, spacious and high-waisted, which I’m all for – you won’t ever catch me in anything low-rise.

They tick all the boxes and I love that the pinstripe pattern makes them feel ultra-luxe.

Plus, they’re a classic wardrobe staple that you can keep for years to come, so they are worth the investment.

This style even has the royal seal of approval, with Kate, the Princess of Wales, often stepping out in a pair.

Dress them up with heels and a blouse or keep it more casual with trainers and a T-shirt.

This time, I’ve paired them with a pretty collared shirt, loafers and a bright-orange bag, giving a pop of colour for a smart yet relaxed look.

MAXI SKIRT

Clemmie, Fashion Editor

Jumper, £38, boots, £69, and bag, £28, Next; skirt, £38, ASOS.comDan Williams

FROM Britney Spears in denim, to sheer styles, the maxi skirt is back.

Crotch-grazing miniskirts were all the rage last year thanks to Miu Miu, but now we can thank designer brands like Altuzarra, Dior and Saint Laurent for covering our thighs and knees.

I, for one, am grateful.

Slip skirts have become a cornerstone of my wardrobe, but my midis will have to make room for updated longer lengths.

Satin slips in maxi lengths will work just as well as a trusted midi.

I’ll be wearing mine with flat, chunky boots, or sleek thigh-highs inspired by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and a cosy knit.

In summer, it will be with a simple trainer or sandal and T-shirt, like Kendall Jenner.

Even though it’s not the most life-changing of modifications to your style – and that’s part of the beauty – it will keep your look current.

KNITTED DRESS

Nana, Celebrity Style Editor

Dress, £39.99, H&M; Shoes, £39.99, ReservedDan Williams

A DRESS is obviously a staple in any wardrobe and this knitted option is a winner for me.

Styles like this are my go-to items, as they do not take much thought when getting ready for work in the morning.

A great dress is minimum effort with maximum style.

And one with a fine knit is a perfect figure-hugging item that flatters all shapes and sizes.

This H&M dress is ideal to wear in the day but could easily be dressed up in the evening with a pair of heels and a clutch bag.

I am a huge fan of the sweetheart neckline and love the Bottega green colour.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that a knitted dress would only work for autumn/winter.

In summer, a sleeveless one would look great with a pair of sandals or mules.

Boilersuit

Lara, Fashion stylist

Boilersuit, £69; boots, £59, both River IslandDan Williams

THE utility trend is one of my favourites for the new season and an all-in-one is my go-to style piece on days where I don’t have time to think about what to wear.

A boilersuit is an easy way to make a statement – and it’s also making waves on the runway.

Just take a look at Stella McCartney.

This khaki one from Nasty Gal, with its flared trouser and Velcro fastening, is a winner that makes me feel on point.

If there’s one thing to invest in over the coming months, this is it – especially as it’s so versatile from season to season.

Go full-utility with a chunky boot and gold chains or soften the look with a heel and colour block bag.

Don’t be afraid of the boilersuit – trust me, eventually it will be all you want to wear, day in and day out.
