The Traitors US star Quentin Jiles has revealed unaired conversations with Below Deck’s Kate Chastain took place over her behaviour.

While Claudia Winkleman’s series saw 22 contestants put through their paces in the Scottish castle, across the pond, Quentin was joined by normal people like him as well as a bunch of celebrities, which prompted even more suspicion and paranoia.

The 32-year-old and fellow Faithful Andie Vanacore, 30, managed to make it to the very end with the last two remaining Traitors, Cirie and The Bachelor’s Arie Luyendyk Jr, after banishing Traitors Christian de la Torre and Big Brother star Cody Calafiore.

Survivor star Cirie ultimately won, but up until the final, Kate had been Quentin’s number one suspect as a Traitor – and he had good reason.

During one challenge, in which the contestants were all tasked with rolling heavy barrels up steep hills, Kate literally threw away money, refusing to carry tiny barrels worth hundreds of dollars to the finish line.

And when questioned about it at the time, she called herself a ‘liability’, continuing to frustrate the other contestants.

But she somehow remained in the game, despite, Quentin revealing, many of the cast members speaking to her in private about that moment.

In an exclusive chat with Metro.co.uk, he said: ‘I voted for Kate particularly on that day. But I voted for Kate for really most of the season.’

He continued: ‘I think if Kate wasn’t a Traitor, then she was a shield because everybody thought she was. So that’s why she didn’t get murdered.’

He added that if Kate was a Faithful (which she did turn out to be), then she was just a ‘really bad’ one – a sentiment which several other contestants echoed throughout the show.

Revealing unaired conversations over her behaviour took place, Quentin said: ‘Kate and I, this is something that doesn’t make it to the show either or make it through the edit, we actually have a conversation on camera where I’m like, “Look, either you’re a Traitor or you are really bad Faithful and I can’t decide which one it is”.

‘But at the episode where she’s throwing money away, I’m like, well, even if she’s a Faithful at that time I didn’t want to get to the end with her, because she might throw money away, she might sabotage it because she doesn’t want to be here so I’m not particularly sure why we never had enough votes to fully just get Kate out of the game.

‘It’s really baffling to me because it was clear she was never going to be murdered. But it was also clear that she really wasn’t, at a certain point, she really wasn’t helping the collective.’

And it wasn’t just Quentin who spoke to Kate over her ‘sabotaging’ the team challenge.

Quentin highlighted that Survivor star Stephanie LaGross ‘said something’, while Shelbe Rodriquez was ‘upset’.

He continued: ‘I know Arie was upset, I was upset. Christian was livid. Absolutely, Christian was livid that day.’

‘Everyone was actually upset about it, but she still didn’t get banished,’ he added.

Despite the drama and sabotage, Quentin assured that he and Kate are now actually much closer than at the time of filming.

‘We’re really cool,’ he said, pointing out how close many of the cast members remain.
