I’m a fashion expert – what your coat says about you & why a long puffer it means you’re lazy

FIRST impressions count, so when it’s cold, your coat choice does the talking for you.

As the cold weather is still lingering around we can’t throw off our coats and reach summer garb just yet.

But when it comes to your choice of cover up you should be mindful of how it looks as it could be completely different to who you really are.

For example, you may have a well put together, glamorous outfit on but if you conceal it under a scruffy old coat it’s showing the world that you’re not really that bothered about your appearance.

Here Fabulous’ Fashion Editor, Clemmie Fieldsend reveals what your winter coat is really saying about you.

LONG PUFFER – LAZY

PinterestLong quilted coats could be making you look lazy.[/caption]

On a cold morning when you can’t think about anything else other than staying in bed where it’s warm and cosy but in reality you’ll be standing waiting for the bus, reaching for the long puffer makes perfect sense.

The duvet style coat has been trending for the last few seasons and has been the answer to fashion and warmth conundrums.

However, to onlookers you look like you couldn’t be bothered to put your outfit together properly and look lazy as you can’t see anything underneath.

PARKA – COMMON

PinterestWant to stand out from the crowd? Ditch your parka coat.[/caption]

On a short walk down your local high street you will be bound to see women in parka coats.

Usually thigh or knee length and with faux-fur around the collar, know the ones I mean?

Of course you do, because they’ve been around for years and have become common.

Choosing a parker means you’re one who doesn’t want to stand out and doesn’t want to break the fashion mould by braving a new style.

TAILORED – UNAPPROACHABLE

If a smart, tailored coat is your go too you’re more than likely a busy, hardworking woman who has no time for nonsense.

And then includes the cold weather, so you choose not to let it bother you and stick to your tailored coat even if it’s snowing.

Your no nonsense style of dressing makes you approachable, which is no bad thing, it just means you can keep your head down and get on with your day in peace.

TEDDY – TACKY

Teddy textures are the cruel-free and more current way to give a nod to fur fur, and you feel like you have been wrapped up by a, you guessed it, teddy bear.

But wearing a floor sweeping borg coat, as it’s alternatively known, inspired by A-listers like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Molly-Mae Hauge to the supermarket or off licence makes you appear tacky.

Whilst we’d all love to shish about like the stars, in reality we aren’t and it comes across as you trying too hard to impress.

RAINCOAT – MUMSY

A raincoat isn’t considered the most fashion forward of coats but it is practical.

If you’re a waterproof fan you might be a mum.

Like your coat, you’re reliable, durable and that’s what you need in a cover up.

You don’t need a thick coat as you are always running around, juggling everything and everyone and a cagoule is practically perfect for you.
