The first major Hogwarts Legacy patch has arrived just days after launch but the patch notes don’t tell the full story.

Like every newly released game, Hogwarts Legacy has its fair share of bugs and glitches, with stuttering being one of the most annoying issues.

Some glitches may be welcomed by players, particularly one that allows you to explore all four common rooms, but having a smooth gaming experience is pretty important.

To try and ensure that, Warner Bros. has released the first patch for Hogwarts Legacy, although you might not see as big of a change as you expected.

What do the Hogwarts Legacy patch notes say?

The patch notes mention that the update addresses overall gameplay performance and stability, as well as online connection improvements.

Sadly, the patch doesn’t fix the main problem most PC players are currently facing, constant stuttering and frame rate drops.

A few players even claim the game runs worse than it did before, although the patch has only been live for a few hours, meaning you might need to tweak some things for optimal performance.

Xbox Series X and PC players, expect a patch today that resolves a number of bugs and performance issues!

PS5 players, due to some unforeseen issues, we’re targeting later this week to get your patch to you. Thanks for your patience! https://t.co/hPF39oNyGz

Fixes for some quests and activities are included, though, such as the Owl Mail no longer disrupting mission triggers.

The developer has also confirmed it has patched up ‘rare’ crashes tied to some World Events or character respawns.

The general performance of the game’s fidelity visual mode has also been improved, after players reported having trouble with it.

More: Harry Potter

The patch is only available to download for PC and Xbox Series X at the moment. PlayStation 5 players will receive it later in the week due to ‘unforeseen issues’.

This means that those who haven’t yet received the Collector’s Edition trophy will have to wait a bit longer.

The Collector’s Edition trophy is one of Hogwarts Legacy’s platinum trophies which you can unlock by completing all the in-game collections (i.e., it’s not tied to the special £280 copy of the game).
