Kevin Holland Offers to Take on Donald Cerrone on Short Notice After Diego Sanchez Pulls Out

Kevin Holland took to social media and offered to step in on short notice to take on Donald Cerrone. ‘Cowboy’ was gearing up to take on Diego Sanchez in what was Sanchez’s final fight with the organization. However, Sanchez has pulled out of the contest and Holland has once again offered up his services to remain active.

Holland is the UFC’s go-to man when it comes to making good on short turnarounds. He put forth the idea of a fight against ‘Cowboy’ and offered to scrap at a catchweight of 175-pounds. Given the way the UFC has provided him with his wishes in the past, fans are expecting a booking to take place.

Kevin Holland: The ultimate company man

‘The Trailblazer’ has made it a sort of trend to take fights on short notice, and more often than not, he’s granted his wish. His last outing was a late replacement fight against Marvin Vettori that took place at the start of April. He subbed in for Darren Till, who broke his collarbone and was forced out of his five-round fight.

Stylistically, taking on Donald Cerrone on short notice would be far more ideal as compared to his recent fights. Kevin Holland has gone toe-to-toe against some credentialed ground fighters as of late, and it hasn’t worked out well. Cerrone will probably look to engage in a stand-up war that plays right into Kevin Holland’s wheelhouse.

Can ‘The Trailblazer’ get back on track?

Kevin Holland was out-grappled in an absolute shut-out against Vettori not too long ago. His recent setback made him reassess his intentions at middleweight and considered a long lay-off. However, Holland being the perennial opportunist seems to be interested in going down as the most active UFC fighter ever.

It’s unclear if Donald Cerrone will take up a fight against Holland, especially after looking at the way his stand-up has looked. He’s likely got the strength advantage over Cerrone and will be favored in the clinch as well. However, ‘Cowboy’ has never been one to pick and choose his opponent and will be keen to give fans an exciting war.
