Felix Kammerer reflected on his time filming the critically acclaimed war flick, All Quiet On The Western Front and admitted those heavy battle scenes were ‘chaos’.
The actor, 27, starred in the movie that was based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran from the first world war.
While attending the Bafta film awards, Felix stopped to chat exclusively with Metro.co.uk and shared behind-the-scenes details from his time on set.
When questioned over his most ‘wow’ moment during his months with the cast and crew, the star reflected on the epic battles that populate the 2022 project.
He said: ‘It wasn’t every day but there was a special one.
‘I think it was the battle scene in the middle and you hear the action and suddenly 600 extras start running, you have mud, horses, cars, chaos.

‘And you look at all this and you think (unclear) and realise what’s going on. I had to pinch myself.’
Felix went on to credit his fellow cast mates for lifting his spirits when the heavy nature of the film’s storyline began weighing on him.
‘It was basically just staying together, talking about the day, how it went.
‘And we were really lucky to have this group, to find some common ground with each other and really develop a friendship’.
The film shot to box office success as fans reeled over its production and storytelling and it also managed to rack up noms ahead of award season – including a whopping 14 Baftas.

‘I don’t know what the viewing numbers were but I realised after the film was released and after the award nominations came out, there was quite some rise in media attention,’ Felix admitted about the project’s popularity.
He continued: ‘And then of course, that triggers views again, so it’s a cycle and I’m just happy that so many people can watch this movie.
‘It was quite a ride, it was a journey and we started SO long ago. And now we are here and it’s all connected.
‘And it feels weird to see the film that we hoped would find some recognition come to this point… It’s really mind-baffling.’
Netflix’s All Quiet On The Western Front took home Bafta gongs for adapted screenplay, film not in the English language, cinematography, sound and original score during Sunday night’s ceremony.
