Ewan McGregor revealed how ‘hard’ he found it when the Star Wars prequel films were universally panned.

The 50-year-old played Obi Wan Kenobi in three movies, between 1999 – 2005 – however they weren’t very well received from fans or critics.

Chatting about the flicks, he confessed that he struggled with the reaction, telling the Hollywood Reporter it was ‘hard’ to deal with.

‘That was quite difficult. They were universally not very much liked,’ he said.

It’s not only the reaction he found difficult to deal with but the shooting of the films themselves.

Reflecting on working on Revenge Of The Sith in 2005, he told the publication that it was hard to work mostly in front of a screen, instead of a set.

‘After three or four months of that, it just gets really tedious – especially when the scenes are… I don’t want to be rude, but it’s not Shakespeare,’ he continued.

‘There’s not something to dig into in the dialogue that can satisfy you when there’s no environment there.

‘It was quite hard to do.’

Ewan will be reprising his role as the Jedi in a series for Disney, and is a lot more excited for the project as he’s ‘in a much better place’.

Little is known about the upcoming Star Wars series, but Disney Plus bosses recently announced several iconic characters would be making an eagerly-anticipated return.

Bonnie Piesse, who played Beru in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, as well as Joel Edgerton, who played her husband Owen, are among those who are confirmed to be making a comeback.

Filming started this month, with a statement from Disney reading: ‘The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.’
