Cate Blanchett is set to showcase her ‘booty-shaking skills’ in a new music video.

The Oscar-nominated actress is branching out into dance for a video from US pop-rock band Sparks, due to be released on Friday.

In the video for new track The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte, Cate makes the music duo’s ‘dreams come true’ by starring in the project, where she is seen wearing a yellow suit and red headphones as she shows off her dancing skills.

Brothers Ron and Russell Mael, who make up the group, gushed over the announcement as they labeled Cate ‘one of the greatest actors of our time.’

They explained they had met and become friends with the Tár actress last year after meeting in Paris, and had no idea what was to come.

‘We met Cate Blanchett in Paris at the Cesar Awards last year, little knowing that a year later one of the great actors of our time – and a splendid person – would graciously consent to lending her booty-shaking skills to the first video from our new album,’ they said.

‘Dreams really do come true. We will sleep well tonight knowing that forever we can say we co-starred in a film with Cate Blanchett.’

The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte represents the first single from Sparks’ 26th studio album, which bears the same name as the single.

Sparks are back with Island Records label for the first time in almost five decades, having previously released classic albums such as 1974’s Kimono My House.
