‘I Don’t Care’: Jeanie Buss’ Hilarious Song Request During Lakers’ Uninspired NBA Loss to Raptors
Los Angeles Lakers President, Jeanie Buss, is one of the most active owners in the NBA. She participates and plays an integral role in her team’s success. So, during their NBA game against Toronto Raptors, she got involved through social media in a unique way.
The Lakers were leading the Raptors 38-32 at the end of the first quarter. However, things took a turn for the worse as the Lakers had an ugly second quarter (21-40). By half-time, they found themselves trailing 72-59.
So, in a bid to turn around her team’s fortunes, she tweeted out a song request to be played during the half-time break at the Staples Center.

Or perhaps, she was taking a thinly-vieled dig at their performance throughout the game. It seemed as the Lakers players were saying ‘I don’t care’ throughout the second quarter to themselves! But did it help in patching up their languid play?
To some extent, as they came out of the break with more energy, but couldn’t manage to save the game. They ultimately ended up on the losing side (114-121). It marked their third consecutive loss and second straight one since LeBron James returned.
Do the Lakers not care of their downward trajectory in the table?
This defeat moved them out of a regular playoff spot in the Western Conference. Although they are tied with the Mavericks and the Blazers (all three are 10 games behind), they are ranked lower than the Mavs, but higher than the Blazers because of the head-to-head rule.
This should set the alarm bells ringing for them as they might have to feature in the Play-in tournament. More competitive games is the last thing that they need right now. They have an injury-prone roster that can’t handle the load of the regular season as it is.
Or perhaps they are trying to chart an easier route to the Western Conference Finals?
The Clippers lie in fourth place in the table, right now. Hence, the Lakers will be punching their own gut if they put effort into winning games and ending up fifth. They would not want to face their cross-town rivals in the first round. Being the sixth seed means that they can get an easier matchup (Nuggets in the first round and Jazz or Blazers in the semi-finals).
But, they do need to get some wins under their belt and build some confidence before that. They are playing a dangerous game and we’ll find out later in the month if they succeed or tank miserably.
