Groom ‘raped woman a day before WEDDING in Las Vegas hotel room’, cops say – as new wife says she’ll stand by him

A GROOM-TO-BE was charged with raping a woman in a lux Las Vegas hotel room one day before he was set to tie the knot with his fiancée.

On the day before getting hitched, Omar Delaney, 35, of Tacoma, Washington was taken into custody on April 20, and charged with sexual assault and lewdness, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

And since his arrest and rape rap, his new wife, Tamara, is allegedly standing by her newly wedded husband, maintaining the victim was actually a willing sexual participant.

“’Im happy to tell you everything after the trail [sic]. She verbally consented and is lying. And yes I am still by my husband’s side,’ she allegedly posted on Facebook, according to the Daily Mail.

Delaney, Tamara and some wedding attendees had ventured out for a stroll along the Strip on the night of April 19.

His accuser was with the wedding party during the sightseeing.

She recalled to police that on this night she downed three shots of vodka before retiring to her hotel room at the posh Luxor Hotel at around 11pm, according to the Review-Journal.

Delaney’s accuser told cops that she remembered the liquor causing her to feel “tipsy” but that she remained lucid.

Once she alerted everyone that she was heading back to her hotel room, she said Delaney allegedly offered to tag along.

Once they arrived at the room, the woman claimed Delaney started to fondle her breasts.

“(She) told Omar, ‘I don’t like it,’ and tried to scoot away from Omar,” the publication, quoting the report, states.

“Omar responded, ‘Ok.’”

Delaney allegedly left her alone in the room, but then the report suggests he came back a few minutes later and began undressing to undress the woman.

The alleged victim told police that she refused the groom’s advances by shaking her head,  “as if to say, ‘No,’” according to the quoted report.

But Delaney allegedly engaged in a sexual act on the woman anyway.

She allegedly didn’t push him away fearing he would turn violent, the publication reported from the police narrative.

The alleged sexual deviant then exited her hotel room and the woman said she tried to nod off to sleep by getting herself under the bed covers.

However, Delaney allegedly returned again after only a few minutes.

She suspects he had done so after swiping her room key card out of her wallet.

This time, he allegedly climbed on top of the woman and raped her, the publication reports.

When investigators searched Delaney’s hotel room, they allegedly found the woman’s room key and confirmed that it had been used at 12:21am, 12:38am, 1am and twice at 1:29 a.m., according to the publication, citing the report.

Pressed to explain what happened, Delaney instead refused to answer any questions, demanding to consult an attorney first.

Cops eventually brought the groom into custody on the morning of April 20, and charged him with three counts of sexual assault and one count of lewdness, the Review-Journal confirmed.

Delaney posted $10,000 bail the next day and is expected back in court on July 26.

Court records show Delaney and his bride-to-be purchased a marriage license days before their April 21 wedding.
