An 18-year-old has confessed to fatally shooting Pop Smoke in 2020.

The defendant was just 15 at the time of the crime and in addition to first-degree murder, also confessed to alleged discharge of a firearm and home-invasion robbery when he appeared in a juvenile court on Friday.

Pop Smoke, born Bashar Jackson, was shot in his Hollywood Hills home and just 20 years old.

L.A. County Superior Court Judge J. Christopher Smith told the teenager and his co-defendant, who is 19, that the musician ‘lost his life over no good reason’.

The judge added: ‘You have no right to take somebody’s life. You have no right to take somebody’s property.’

According to the Los Angeles Times, the 18-year-old will remain in a state juvenile facility until he turns 25.

The Welcome To The Party rapper was shot and killed at his home in Los Angeles, California on 19 February 2020 in what was described by police at the time as a ‘targeted’ hit.

LAPD’s Captain Steve Laurie confirmed at a conference that multiple police units responded to a 911 call in Hollywood Hills at 4:30am.

Laurie added: ‘When officers arrived there approximately six minutes later, they discovered a victim inside the house had been shot.

‘They called the fire department who arrived and transported that victim to Cedars-Sinai hospital where he was pronounced dead some hours later.’
