Is Tiger Woods Playing at the AT&T Byron Nelson 2021?
The PGA Tour is running on a busy schedule this season amid the pandemic. There are months that are jam-packed with tournaments, and May boasts such a tight schedule. The tour will swiftly conclude at Charlotte, North Carolina, where the Wells Fargo Championship is played, and will then move to McKinney, Texas, for the AT&T Byron Nelson. The field is set, but is Tiger Woods taking part in the event this year?
The AT &T Byron Nelson has seen several sponsor changes and venue relocations over the years. However, it has also seen Tiger Woods as an active participant for quite a few years. In fact, Woods is a past champion of the tournament, as he won it all the way back in 1997 when it was still called the GTE Byron Nelson Golf Classic.
Is Tiger Woods a part of the AT&T Byron Nelson this year?
The PGA Tour released the AT &T Byron Nelson 2021 field notes recently, and the list has quite a few star-studded names. However, 82-time PGA Tour winner Tiger Woods will not take part in the event this year as he’s still recovering from the injuries sustained in the single-car crash that took place in February.
Woods also missed the 2021 Masters and is expected to miss a lot more tournaments in hopes of getting stronger with time. Tiger Woods has recorded nine starts at the AT &T Byron Nelson when it was played at the TPC Four Seasons Resort.
In these appearances, Tiger Woods achieved an impressive six Top 10 finishes and missed only two cuts. Furthermore, he finished in third place in back-to-back years and is a fan favorite at the event.
Of course, Tiger Woods would love to compete at the TPC Craig Ranch in Texas. The tournament is moving to this venue starting from 2021 and it is a shame that Woods won’t be a part of the field this year. However, on the bright side, he is recovering quickly and is still carrying the fighting mentality.
