Souleymane Cissokho Claims Controversial Split Decision Win Over Kieron Conway
The WBA inter-continental super-welterweight title clash between Souleymane Cissokho and Kieron Conway certainly stayed true to its hype. The pair went all out against each other and gave the fans a show worth the wait. However, Souleymane Cissokho claimed a tough split decision win to end this prolific title fight.
Cissokho, a favorite in this contest, began it well right from the first gong. He only moved forward with his shots and kept Conway on his toes. On the other hand, the latter looked to land his vital right hand on Cissokho, but he couldn’t really connect well with the same.

But in round 9, Conway turned the tables when he landed a crucial uppercut to put Cissokho on the canvas. However, the latter kept composure and took this contest to the final bell, and won the fight subsequently.
The 29-year-old showed enough intent right from the first round to win the fight. In these 10-rounds, Cissokho rarely lost focus and kept on landing his best hits on his adversary. But in round 9, it seemed he won’t survive in front of Conway’s continuous power shots.
Yet, displaying a champion mindset, the Dakar native won this fight on the judges’ scorecard. And established himself as the new WBA inter-continental super-welterweight champ.
