‘This Guy Wants Some Fish’- Khabib Nurmagomedov Responds to Conor McGregor’s Comments

The back and forth between Khabib Nurmagomedov and his foe Conor McGregor continues despite the two men not being close to fighting each other. This time around, however, the topic of dispute was not fighting but an extremely unlikely sport, fishing. 

Gregor ‘The Gift’ Gillespie secured an impressive win this weekend at UFC Vegas 26. The former NCAA champion Gillespie used his wrestling well to secure a dominant win over Ferreira.

Following the win, ‘The Notorious’ tweeted, “This Gregor Gillespie cat is no way in hell the best fisherman in MMA. Not even f**kin close!”

‘The Eagle’ hit back at Conor McGregor when he tweeted, “This guy want some fish.@danawhite you promised him last time )))) @MAKHACHEVMMA @espnmma @ufc”

McGregor followed his original tweets with a claim that he is fishing. While also urging fans to pick up the sport stating it was a ‘relaxing occasion’

Is Conor McGregor vs Islam Makhachev a possibility?

The tweet by Nurmagomedov suggests a possible matchup between ‘The Notorious’ and his protege Makhachev. McGregor at the moment is preparing for his third fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Islam on the other hand recently secured an impressive win over Drew Dober at UFC 259 and is currently out of action due to religious reasons. 

Makhachev is aiming for a return as soon as possible but is finding it hard to secure an opponent. A fight with McGregor as suggested by Nurmagomedov is very much a possibility, but a lot of things have to fall in place for it to happen. For starters, if McGregor wins the fight against Poirier he will most definitely fight the winner of the main event at UFC 262 between Chandler and Oliveira. 

 

However, if he loses the fight against Dustin Poirier, a fight against Makhachev might be a possibility. For McGregor, it would be a good chance to exact revenge against Nurmagomedov and his team. For Makhachev it would be an extremely big fight and can serve as a platform to launch him into super stardom just as it did for ‘The Eagle’ at UFC 229.
