Twitch hands out first ban to former Man City star Sergio Aguero-Radina Koutsafti-Entertainment – Metro

Former Man City star Sergio Aguero has been banned for Twitch for the first time since he started streaming, over two years ago.

Twitch has witnessed a surge of celebrities joining its platform recently, and at the forefront is footballer Sergio Aguero, amassing an impressive following of 4.66 million. 

Even though Aguero retired from football at the young age of 33, due to a heart condition, he is very active on Twitch, frequently demonstrating his prowess with FIFA, Valorant, and other games. 

Despite having created his channel in 2020, the footballer has never encountered any suspensions related to his content, adding an extra layer of intrigue to his recent ban. 

Neither Aguero nor Twitch have provided any comments regarding the ban. However, attempting to access his account reveals that content from his channel has been removed ‘at the request of the copyright holder.’ 

This strongly suggests that the footballer was broadcasting copyrighted material belonging to someone else, resulting in a copyright strike. 

The length of his ban remains undisclosed, but Twitch treats copyright strikes very seriously.

Depending on the extent to which the copyright holder pursues the matter, Aguero could potentially face a suspension ranging from weeks to even years. 

In a similar scenario, a lesser-known Twitch streamer received a ban lasting over two years for playing a Beyoncé song during one of her broadcasts. 

However, considering Aguero’s celebrity status, it’s not likely that his ban will be as severe. 

Aguero rose to fame during his time at Atlético Madrid, but it was his move to Manchester City that solidified his position as one of the best forwards in the world.

During his tenure at Man City, he played a pivotal role in securing the club’s first Premiership title since 1968.
