Holly Willoughby has issued a statement after Phillip Schofield’s departure from This Morning.

The ITV presenter announced on Saturday (May 20) that he is stepping down from hosting duties on the show.

His announcement comes amid rumours of a rift between him and co-presenter Holly, who have worked together for decades but were recently hit by claims they’re ‘barely speaking’ behind the scenes.

After Phil’s initial post, Holly took to her Instagram Story to address the matter, her first comment since reports began.

‘Hi everyone…’, she began.

‘It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.

‘The sofa won’t feel the same without him.’
