Rory McIlroy on Wells Fargo Championship – ‘I’ve Done Some Pretty Cool Things Here Before’
Rory McIlroy is looking at his best once again. While it took quite some time, fans are delighted to see McIlroy taste success at the Wells Fargo Championship. However, it isn’t too surprising that the Northern Irishman is having a good time at the Quail Hollow Club as he’s the record holder at the venue.
Rory McIlroy is a fan favorite at the Wells Fargo Championship not because he’s an accomplished golfer on the tour. McIlroy has also tasted success at this tournament in the past and is the only two-time winner of the event.
McIlroy is seeing a career revival at the Wells Fargo Championship in 2021. He’s currently in the second position ahead of the final round and is within striking distance of the leader.
Following his third-round heroics, McIlroy was asked if he develops nerves when playing at such a challenging course, to which he replied: “So I like that feeling. It’s almost just trying to not be too amped up and get ahead of yourself.”
“It’s sometimes when I get off to start like today, especially around here, it’s hard for me to not get ahead of myself because I’ve done some pretty cool things here before. So just trying to get myself back in a little bit and but again, it was cool to play in front of that sort of atmosphere today,” McIlroy added.
Rory McIlroy is confident about winning Wells Fargo Championship 2021
Rory McIlroy entered the Wells Fargo Championship as a major favorite owing to his impressive history at the Quail Hollow Club. He got off to a slow start with a 1-over 72 in Round 1 but scored 8-under in the subsequent rounds.
McIlroy is currently 7-under for the tournament and is yet to play Round 4. He’s been terrific with his game at Quail Hollow, and the experience is paying off as well. The 32-year-old needs just one more good round to win his first tour title in more than 500 days.
“I’m happy that it is here because it’s a golf course that I’m comfortable on and going into a final run tomorrow with a chance to win. I feel like I need I need everything I can get to you know, to try to get over the line,” McIlroy said about his chances.
McIlroy (-7) is trailing Keith Mitchell (-9) by two strokes heading into the final round at Wells Fargo Championship. Do you reckon he can do it?
