Holly Willoughby breaks silence on social media after Phillip Schofield confirms they’re not speaking-Ruth Lawes-Entertainment – Metro

Holly Willoughby has broken her silence on social media after Phillip Schofield revealed the current state of their friendship.

Schofield, 62, confirmed the pair were no longer in contact after he admitted to having an ‘unwise but not illegal’ affair with a young runner on This Morning and quit ITV with ‘immediate effect.’

Willoughby later addressed the former Dancing on Ice host’s confession and said she was ‘hurt’ she had been ‘lied’ to when she asked him ‘directly’ about the relationship.

Prior to Schofield’s announcement, there had been rumours of a fallout between the once-firm friends and that they were ‘barely speaking’ behind the scenes of This Morning.

Schofield revealed he had texted her before revealing the affair to the public and begged for her forgiveness but she didn’t reply to his message and have not spoken since.

‘I understand why she didn’t reply, as well. So yeah. If anyone is in any way linking Holly to this; that is ­absolutely, wholly untrue,’ he told The Sun.

Not long after Schofield’s remarks, Willoughby, who has fleed the UK for a holiday in Portugal with her family, posted on her wellness company Wylde Moon’s Instagram page.

She published selfie on the social media site with wet hair and captioned the post: ‘We all love the sunshine, but it can do some sneaky damage to our hair if we don’t protect it.

Willoughby has not been presenting This Morning since the scandal broke after taking an early half-term break but will return to present the show on Monday, June 5. 

It was reported that Willoughby could be questioned over Schofield’s scandal in an external ITV review, alongside the likes of Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
