Tom Parker and wife Kelsey planning for more children after singer’s brain tumour diagnosis
Tom Parker and his wife Kelsey are planning on having more children despite the singer’s terminal brain tumour diagnosis last year.
Speaking candidly about their family life following the devastating news, the Wanted star and his other half admitted that it didn’t change the fact they want ‘four’ children.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Kelsey said: ‘We are planning for more children – I’ve always wanted a big family, and I think we’ll end up with four.’
The pair are already doting parents to daughter Aurelia, nearly two, and seven-month-old son Bodhi.
Discussing parenthood, Kelsey added: ‘There’s only a 16-month age gap between our two children, and it’s definitely been a lot, even without taking into account our circumstances, so I won’t be having children that close in age again – doing that once was enough,’ she added.
Kelsey also revealed they would tell their children about their dad’s tumour once they are old enough to understand it.
‘I want them to know that life isn’t always rosy, but we get through it. I know we will say, “Dad has a brain tumour, but he is fighting it”.’
Tom, 32, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in September 2020, not long before his son Bodhi was born.
The hitmaker has gone through rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and while his tumour is inoperable, it has reduced in size.
Tom was back in hospital last month to have a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan after showing signs of improvement.
An MRI scan uses radio waves to produce detailed images of inside of the body and can be used to examine also any part, including the brain, bones and internal organs.
The former pop star shared an update on his health with concerned fans after the MRI, and explained in his Instagram stories: ‘We’re just awaiting the results back which will give us an update on what’s happening and stuff…
‘So far have done all the treatment so far, just chemotherapy, radiation, and then we’ll just kind of see where we’re at from there. So wish me good luck next week.’
He later added: ‘Also, just had a little muscle wastage on my left side when I was first diagnosed. It was just so hard to use anything, my arm, my leg, and then obviously when you don’t use anything, the muscle just deteriorates. So I’ve started getting active again.’
