Black Mirror season six has dropped on Netflix with a stellar cast including Salma Hayek, Aaron Paul and Josh Hartnett.

But another famous face making an appearance was John Nettles, as his Bergerac tapes played a key role in solving the chilling mystery in Loch Henry.

The second instalment of Charlie Brooker’s highly-anticipated series follows young couple Davis (played by Samuel Blenkin) and Pia (Myha’la Herrold) who travel to his sleepy Scottish hometown to produce a nature documentary.

What the filmmakers actually discover is something far darker, when a mysterious death from years ago is revealed to be a terrifying secret Davis’ parents have been hiding.

And the secret to finding out what really went on is down to Nettles, as Pia discovers the truth taped over old Bergerac videos.

Making an appearance in the episode, Pia and Davis first watch Nettles as Jim Bergerac, as she jokes: ‘Hey, that’s your mum’s boyfriend.’

She then jokes ‘show us his butt!’ before he shuts down: ‘That’s enough of that.’

The theme tune returns later in the episode, before the sinister tape turns to exposing Davis’ mum Janet (Monica Dolan) as a murderer.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk, she said: ‘I was about to look it up, but then I knew that Pia didn’t know what it was, so there’s no reason I should know what it is, so I never looked it up, being intentional about it.’

Samuel added: ‘Somewhere in my memory it sparked something. Davis had a vague awareness of it, I was the same, I had enough.

‘But you know what, John, if you’re out there, thank you, for letting us tell your story.’
