Celebrity Gogglebox star and Happy Mondays dancer Mark Berry – aka Bez – has said he’s ‘lucky to be alive’ after a motorbike accident in February.

The 59-year-old media personality was with a group of professional riders when he lost control of the front end of his bike and ended up off the road, breaking bones, ligaments, and his foot.

He was near the mountains in Magaluf – the famous party region of Spanish island Majorca – when the crash happened, and admitted he is still ‘not quite right’ four months on.

Speaking to The Daily Star, he said: ‘We were off-road in the mountains near Magaluf – it was literally on the way home. I lost the front end and had a really bad accident.

‘I broke bones. I broke my foot and did all my ligaments in.

‘I’m just recovered. It still hurts a bit and it’s not quite right, but it’s getting more and more easier.’

But the dancer isn’t quitting the hobby any time soon, despite the scary incident.

‘I’ll never give it up, because I get so much pleasure out of it,’ he admitted.

‘My last accident was three years ago, and if I can go another three without injury, I’ll be happy.”

He added that the hobby takes his mind off things.

The star’s quick recovery comes as he’s touring with supergroup Mantra Of The Cosmos – which also includes Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder, Oasis bassist Andy Bell and Zak Starkey, drummer of The Who.

Aside from being known as a member of the Happy Mondays and Black Grape – where he plays his famous maracas – Bez also appeared on Dancing On Ice and Celebrity Gogglebox.
