Who would’ve thought Bradley Walsh would be behind the Spice Girls reunion?

What are the chances?! (Picture: ITV)

Viewers of The Chase had to do a double take this week as all four contestants’ names had a rather amusing link.

In truly incredible scenes, the players on June 19’s episode shared a bizarre connection, with all of their names belonging to none other than the Spice Girls!

Well, almost.

Introduced by host Bradley Walsh, the ITV challenge show welcomed Gerry, Emma, Mel, and Victoria.

Of course, it didn’t take long for audiences at home to spot the connection with Mel Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Mel Brown, Geri Halliwell Horner, and Victoria Beckham.

It also helps that two members of the 90s girl group share the name Mel, meaning no Spice Girl was left behind.

Someone give the bosses a raise.

Presenter Bradley, 63, didn’t reference the not-so-coincidental casting, but we don’t know how he didn’t pick up on it, quite frankly.

Someone who did point it out, though, was Chaser Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan.

She couldn’t resist mentioning it during the show, telling Bradley that he’d managed to bring about a reunion

‘Brad, they said it couldn’t be done but you’ve done it.’

‘What do you mean?’, he replied, clearly confused.

‘You’ve brought the Spice Girls back together!’, Jenny told him.

Tweeting during the episode, viewers were also keen to see if others had caught on.

‘Omg the spice girls are on the chase x’, one person joked.

‘Tonight on the chase… The welcome return and reunion of The Spice Girls (WELL NEARLY)’, another wrote.

‘Spice girls klaxon’, another added.

‘They’re lucky two of them had the same name or it’d have been tricky’, one person noted.

This isn’t the first time contestants on The Chase have had names with a wild connection.

In February last year, viewers were left in stitches when the four players were Marge, Bart, Maggie, and Lisa, which we’re convinced producers did on purpose.

Fans were left wondering if they were actually all related, while others called for Homer to make an appearance too and complete the family.

The Chase is available to stream on ITVX.
