Glastonbury fans were left ‘gutted’ when a certain individual didn’t make an appearance during Guns N’ Roses headline set.

Axl Rose told crowds they were ‘helping a certain individual celebrate’ as they launched into Live And Let Die.

‘We’re helping a certain individual celebrate the 50th anniversary of this song,’ he said.

The song was written by Sir Paul McCartney and released by Wings in 1973 as part of the soundtrack for the James Bond film of the same name.

Sir Paul has been pictured multiple times at the festival, watching performances including Foo Fighters, with his wife and daughter, Stella and Mary McCartney.

So, it’s not unreasonable for fans to expect a cameo from him at some point.

If Paul McCartney doesn’t come on when Guns’n’Roses perform “Live and Let Die”, I will jolly well be cross while watching @bbcglasto on live stream in bed 🤘🏿 #Glastonbury

In fact, he even made it out on stage with The Pretenders today, who welcomed Johnny Marr also, giving the crowd a wave.

Alas, it wasn’t meant to be, despite the tease.

‘The Macca reference was such a tease’, one fan tweeted.

‘I thought macca was gonna come on for live and let die #disappointed’, tweeted another.

‘Gutted Macca didn’t come out for Live and let die’, another said.

‘Get @PaulMcCartney on stage right now!’, one festival fan demanded.

There have been plenty of rumours flying around as to why Sir Paul is in Somerset.

On Friday, fans were convinced he was there for someone’s special guest slot as he cheered on Dave Grohl and co.

Many believe he could appear as one of Sir Elton John’s surprise guests on Sunday night, given that he has already teased bringing out not one, not two, but four special guests.

Speculation is also rife that Britney Spears will join him for a Hold Me Closer duet, with the song having marked her first release since the end of her 13-year conservatorship.

Brit hasn’t exactly done anything to put the rumours to bed either, having shared a series of cryptic social media posts.

Glasto viewers are also wondering if the likes of Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, or Olly Alexander could appear at Worthy Farm tomorrow.
