David Benavidez Feels Canelo Alvarez Beats Caleb Plant Easier Than Billy Joe Saunders

On May 8, Canelo Alvarez put on a clinical performance against the Brit Billy Joe Saunders. The latter, who was supposed to be the toughest opponent for the Mexican boxer, was totally outclassed. Also, with that win, Canelo has now set himself up for an undisputed super-middleweight clash with Caleb Plant.

The Plant vs Alvarez fight has already struck everyone’s attention, and many fighters have already given out their predictions for this fight. Recently, in an interview with Fight Hub TV, David Benavidez shed some light on this clash. He even gave out a shocking prediction for this fight.

“I think Canelo beats him easier than he beat Billy Joe Saunders, I think he’ll stop Caleb Plant with the body shot, to be honest. I don’t really feel like Caleb Plant can take body shots well. Canelo throws amazing body shots,” said Benavidez.

In his 8-round boxing affair with ‘Superb’, Canelo showed his vast skill sets. There were a few moments when Saunders staggered the P4P king, but the latter still kept composure to land his finest strikes.

Canelo dictated the pace of the fight and scored enough points by landing his jabs and powerful right-hand shots. But it was in round 8 when Alvarez shook Saunders with an uppercut, which caused a swollen eye. Citing that, the referee and Saunders‘ team concluded the fight then and there.

Canelo Alvarez vs Caleb Plant – the best super-middleweight collision?

Alvarez, who has faced several rugged opponents (Callum Smith, Avni Yildirim, Billy Joe Saunders) at this weight class, has emerged victorious against all of them.

Furthermore, this is now the only important fight at the 168-pound landscape that’ll help shape the division subsequently. It’ll be interesting to see who among the two comes out on top to fetch all the belts on the line.
