It’s been a good few months for Taylor Swift fans.

From getting re-recorded versions of her earlier albums to the launch of her Eras Tour in the US, there’s been a slew of Swiftie content to fill those hours scrolling through social media.

And now, the action is coming much closer to home and out of your smartphone screen.

Taylor’s tour tickets will finally be up for grabs for fans across the UK and Europe, and many will be hoping there won’t be a Blank Space on their calendars when she’s in town.

But what’s the meaning behind her latest show, The Eras Tour, and when can you try for tickets?

Why is Taylor Swift’s tour called The Eras Tour?

Taylor Swift’s concert is named The Eras Tour because, quite simply, it covers every era of her career so far.

While it’s not uncommon for an artist to delve into their back catalogue when they hit the road – usually playing some of their bigger hits – a show tends to follow a certain theme.

And that theme is usually tied into their latest album – or ‘era,’ as social media users have dubbed an artist’s album or single campaign these days.

To give it some context, another huge superstar currently touring a show is Beyoncé.

Her tour is called the Renaissance tour and heavily features songs from her latest album, Renaissance, plus takes a lot of visual inspiration from the voguing/ballroom culture which inspired the album’s sound.

However, Taylor’s highly-anticipated tour isn’t pushing one particular album, she’s celebrating her career from the very beginning to the most recent releases.

This could be in part due to her re-recording her older albums so that she would own her masters, after a public dispute with Scooter Braun, who bought the masters from her previous record label.

Taylor isn’t the only artist planning a show which acts as something of a career retrospective.

Madonna’s planned upcoming tour is called the Madonna: The Celebration Tour – and will cover songs from her illustrious 40-year career.

The Queen of Pop was, unfortunately, taken ill recently so the tour’s start date remains in limbo for now.
