Joe Rogan Not Satisfied With Deontay Wilder’s New Training Video: ‘He’s Gonna Need Some Tune-Up Fights’
A couple of days back, Deontay Wilder dropped a slick training video that took the entire fight world by storm. In this video, the ex-WBC heavyweight champ showcased his altogether new version, while damaging the mitts.
Recently, the UFC commentator and analyst, Joe Rogan shed some light on Wilder’s training video. The Canadian TV personality Russell Peters also joined him on The Joe Rogan Experience.
Peters said, “Oh, he (Wilder) looks like a completely different fighter. I think you could find that.” Rogan sponsored his thought and said, “Oh, is he like using a lot of jabs in that video!”
Peters even asserted that Wilder, who doesn’t just land wild punches in this video, actually looks like a boxer.
Rogan added, “Don’t you think he needs a few fights like that with lower-tier competition?… He’s gonna need some tune-up fights.”

The last time Wilder stepped inside the squared circle was against the stout Brit, Tyson Fury. The pair fought each other in February 2020 for the WBC heavyweight titles. To everyone’s surprise, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ went to the canvas for the very first time in his career.
Not just once, but ‘The Gypsy King’ dropped the Alabama native multiple times in the fight. As the fight progressed, Wilder was wobbling and couldn’t land one significant strike on Fury. Consequently, he ended up losing that bout in round 7 with a vicious T/KO.
Since then, Wilder hasn’t returned to the game. But he has definitely overcome that loss and is now looking forward to making an ecstatic return.
Can Deontay Wilder revive his boxing career from hereon?
Prior to confronting Fury, Wilder ranked among the most daunting faces of the big men’s division. Despite a loss in his previous fight, ‘The Bronze Bomber’ still showcases a sublime track record of 42 wins with just 1 loss.
Also, with his above training video, Wilder looks in just the ideal shape and mindset to put his boxing career back on track.
But, the 35-year-old will have to search for some contenders who could give him a hang of the ring once again.
That said, it’ll be interesting to see who he gets lined up with to display his newly learned boxing prowess. What do you draw off Joe Rogan’s comments? Who is an ideal opponent for Deontay Wilder at this stage?
